County Clare volunteer, Tom Loughnane, celebrated with 2025 Volunteers in Sport Awards

The Federation of Irish Sport is pleased to announce that Tom Loughnane from St Cronans athletic Club, has been named County Clare’s 2025 recipient of the Volunteers in Sport Awards, supported by the Sport Ireland National Network of 29 Local Sports Partnerships
 

Tom is passionately dedicated to athletics in Clare and to supporting the development of children across all ages and disciplines. The many athletes who have progressed through St Cronan’s AC and gone on to excel in athletics and other sports are a testament to Tom’s energy, commitment, and influence. Fairness and transparency are central to everything he does. His work is carefully planned, thoughtful, and always aligned with best practice in working with children and young people in the club. 

Beyond St Cronan’s AC, Tom is a hands-on and committed member of Clare Athletics. At local events, he is instrumental in course mapping, parking logistics, organising officials, and ensuring events run smoothly and efficiently. As his nomination says "Tom is the quintessential sports volunteer. He loves what he does and selflessly dedicates his time and energy to guiding young people towards their full potential."
