The Munster U12 โ€“ U19 Indoor Track and Field Competition was held last weekend in Nenagh. The event was held on the same weekend as the Munster Post Primary Schools Cross Country competition in Waterford which meant that quite a few of our athletes had to make a tricky competition selection decision. There were some fantastic results from our athletes from both competitions.

In Nenagh, we had a mix of our experienced and some newer athletes trying a provincial competition for the first time. This resulted in quite a few new PBโ€™s and some great experience of competition and the levels required for success at a provincial level. A number of our newer athletes showed great promise in their first steps competing for the club against athletes that have been training for a number of years. This is a very tricky competition as athletes compete in heats but must also be competitive on time to qualify or win medals. We had quite a few club athletes finishing 2nd or 3rd in many of their heats or semi-finals but unfortunately were pipped out of qualifying by slightly faster heats. These athletes should be very proud of their efforts. Results

The club also took home quite a few medals in a wide variety of events and had a number of athletes qualify for the Nationals in Athlone next month.

Daire won silver ๐Ÿฅˆin the U12 Long Jump.

Jack won silver ๐Ÿฅˆ and Sean won bronze ๐Ÿฅ‰in the U12 High Jump.

Jonah secured gold ๐Ÿฅ‡in a very exciting and competitive U13 600m in the years fastest national time so far.

Jonah won bronze ๐Ÿฅ‰in the U13 Long Jump and Joe finished 4th ๐Ÿต๏ธ

Joe won bronze ๐Ÿฅ‰in the U13 High Jump.

Juliana finished 4th ๐Ÿต๏ธin the U15 60m and was just pipped for a medal by 1/10th of a second.

Emily won silver ๐Ÿฅˆin the U19 60m hurdles

Emily finished 4th ๐Ÿต๏ธin the U19 400m

In Waterford at the Munster schools XC our athletes competed for a number of different schools including Colaiste Muire, St. Flannans and Rice College. Quite a number of our athletes won medals for their school teams and qualified for the All-Ireland Schools competition, which will be held in the same location. There were especially strong performances from Oran, taking a gold ๐Ÿฅ‡in his race and Daithi securing 4th ๐Ÿต๏ธ. Results

Well done to all and best of luck at the National Competitions!
